The Guidance Office at ELHS is staffed by five state-certified professional School Counselors who have earned their Master's Degrees. School counselors abide by the American School Counselor Association Ethical Standards.
Parents and students can rest assured that discussions with their
counselor are confidential and protected by Maine Law, with the
following exceptions: when a student discloses suspected child abuse or neglect, discloses or threatens harm to self or others, and when required by a court to do so.
School Counselors provide free short-term counseling for a variety of developmental issues and can make referrals for students who need long-term intervention. ELHS has a partnership with area agencies (St. Mary's School-Based Health Services and Spurwink Services) that have placed clinical counselors in our building for students with ongoing mental health needs.
Any interested student or family should contact their school counselor in the Guidance Office for
a referral. Families will be billed by the agency for these counseling
services, however, clinicians do accept health insurance. Please contact
your health insurance provider for more information.
